The Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals NSW is a not-for-profit organisation in Australia that cares for, treats, protects and rehomes animals across the state, providing a strong voice for animals experiencing cruelty and neglect. We run a number of shelters and veterinary hospitals dedicated to treating, rehabilitating and rehoming animals. With over 500 staff, RSPCA NSW is dedicated to working with the community to prevent cruelty to animals by actively promoting their care and protection

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Outreach and Education Manager will provide inspiring leadership to the Outreach and Education team and develop, grow and deliver quality and impactful education and outreach services and programs.
These programs and services support and strengthen the human-animal bond and promote positive pet ownership, increasing the communities understanding and capacity to create good animal welfare outcomes. The Outreach and Education Manager will build relationships within the school, community and government sectors to extend the reach and ensure the quality, professionalism and impact of RSPCA NSW’s Education content and Outreach programs.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support the Senior Manager Outreach Programs to create the Outreach and Education strategy and to lead, promote and coordinate activities, including new and existing projects.
- Lead the implementation of the new strategic direction for RSPCA Education as part of targeted outreach programs and on-site delivery at the Education Centre.
- Oversee development and deployment of Education volunteers and the Community Speaker program.
- Develop and support activities to increase uptake and use of the on-line education resource RSPCA AWARE to become utilised widely by schools and teachers across the state
- Support the delivery of Indigenous Community Companion Animal Health Program (ICCAHP’s)
- Raise community awareness and understanding of the positive and mutually beneficial links between human wellbeing and animal welfare through community and individual educational engagement activities.
- Establish and maintain relationships with government agencies, industry groups, human welfare agencies and other stakeholders to further the growth, awareness and impact of Community Outreach and Education.
ABOUT YOU
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification preferably in Education, Training, or Management disciplines
- Working with Children Check
Experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience in leading and developing teams and driving substantial reform programs
- Demonstrated experience in the Education sector
- Experience working with diverse and under-resourced communities and knowledge of the challenges they face desirable
- Demonstrated ability to undertake effective stakeholder engagement including volunteers, community groups, and organisations, government agencies, service providers and staff
- A passion for new programs and engaging with the community
- Demonstrated experience in budget management
- Demonstrated cultural competence or willingness to undertake a course

- An ability to deliver exceptional results, on time and within budget to meet identified program requirements
- Strong strategic planning skills
- An ability to communicate clearly and convincingly and influence outcomes across all management levels

- Outstanding influencing and stakeholder management skills, with proven success in partnering with all levels of the business.
- The ability to flex between the strategic and tactical effortlessly.
This role will involve a moderate amount of intrastate travel and will require some work on weekends and outside of normal business hours. Motor vehicle provided.
