The Animal Welfare League NSW (AWL NSW) is a registered charity that has been operating for over 60 years. AWL NSW provides expert care to surrendered, neglected and abandoned companion animals across New South Wales. We believe that all companion animals in NSW deserve a safe and loving home. We strive to accomplish this through our work in rehoming, education and discount desexing programs.

AWL’s largest shelter is in Kemps Creek and we have an established branch network throughout NSW. In addition, our inspectors are authorised to investigate allegations of animal cruelty and we make it easy for anyone to report animal cruelty.

Expressions of interest are sought from suitably qualified persons with strong governance or Board experience. As a skills-based Board the specific experience we are looking for includes:

•  Digital or cultural transformation
•  Fundraising
•  Advocacy

The voluntary Board meets monthly, and attendance can be face-to-face or via Teams. The Board is looking to appoint up to two new Directors and it is important that you have the capability to make a meaningful contribution to the ongoing success of the organisation. It is expected that individuals will contribute to one or more sub-committees and proactively identify opportunities and initiatives to further promote AWL.

The right individuals will also have a strong understanding of governance principles and financial management to ensure decisions made reflect and enhance the organisation’s Strategic Plan.
