  • new graduates of accredited veterinary schools that are eligible for a MA license
  • First 90 days: always Paired with a staff clinician
    • Heavily mentored
    • Meet as many clients as possible
    • Become familiar with our decision-making process
    • Experience our level of medicine offered to each horse owner and trainer
  • 91-180 days: Your own appointments 3 days each week, and be paired with a staff clinician on your other days
    • See urgent and emergency calls on your own, with a back-up clinician always available
      • Paid Emergency Fees for afterhours calls
    • Routine preventative care as well as sick and lameness calls
  • Our compensation package includes your salary, as well as benefits.
    • Initial salary of $65,000 per annum for the first 4 months
    • Increase to $75,000 per annum thereafter, plus emergency fees ($5-10K).
      • at the conclusion of Year 2
      • Expectation of earning over $100,000 at that point.
    • starting in year one totals over $15,000 and includes:
      • Health care shared coverage (Single coverage) and Dental plan
      • Professional Liability insurance (AVMA plan)
      • Disability insurance ($1,000.00 towards coverage)
      • Continuing education and training expenses up to $2500.00
      • Paid time off for continuing education (4 days minimum)
      • Professional organization dues (e.g., AAEP, AVMA, State VMA)
      • Paid vacation (2 weeks in year 1 and 3 weeks in year 2)
      • 9. Uniform Allowance (up to $500 per year, practice logo wear)
  • Internal medicine caseload includes referrals as well as ophthalmic and medical colic cases; preventative care and dentistry; no colic surgery performed. General ambulatory/emergencies seen weekly and as needed.
  • 40% performance horse evaluations, 30% Preventative care/internal medicine, 20% general ambulatory, 5-10% reproductive (seasonal), 5% emergency (no colic surgery).
  • Monday, Wednesday & Friday - full days ambulatory, routine preventative care as well as lameness/purchase exams. Tuesday/Thursday (am) - in clinic cases and surgeries; (pm) -ambulatory. Saturday (am) - in clinic caseload and weekend ambulatory treatments.
  • Shared rotation with interns and other associates. Typically, one night each week and one weekend each month.
  • Doctor rounds every Monday morning, and a practice total team meeting is held one morning each month.
  • Graduate from AVMA accredited school, passed NAVLE, eligible for a MA vet license and a valid driver's license are all requirements.
