The Opportunity

We are currently seeking motivated Veterinary Laboratory Scientist to join our diagnostic laboratory in Brisbane in a Part-time capacity to cover increase in Microbiology testing. Working 16 hours/week, additional hours as required (Monday - Saturday, 8am - 5pm) . As a member of a specialised team, you – as the successful hire, will ensure the provision of high-quality, efficient, effective, and timely diagnostic testing microbiology services for the IDEXX Reference Laboratories. The Veterinary Laboratory Scientist will apply professional knowledge in microbiological investigations, as well as, exercise professional judgement in interpretation, verification, and validation of the results.

The Veterinary Laboratory Scientist will ensure that IDEXX Reference Laboratories operate at the highest level of accuracy by performing, monitoring and acting upon quality control procedures – while monitoring, calibrating, and troubleshooting their performance, in compliance with NATA and ISO accreditation/certification requirements at all times.

The Successful Candidate Will Possess

• A Bachelor of Medical Science/or equivalent degree and / or experience.
• Experience in Medical or Veterinary Pathology including utilising and maintaining instruments such as microscopes, Vitek and MALDI-TOF.
• Experience in bacteriology and mycology including basic biochemical identification and morphology recognition.
• Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to policies and practices.
• Experience in operating efficiently and effectively to meet tight turnaround times in a commercial lab environment.
• A passion for providing exceptional customer service
• Attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
• Commitment to our IDEXX values, diligent attention to our Quality system and Health & Safety policies/procedures.
• Full training will be provided.
