Argus produces price assessments and analysis of international energy and other commodity markets and offers bespoke consulting services and industry-leading conferences.

What will you be doing?

The Market Reporter will cover the Australia agriculture markets, including livestock, meat and grains markets, through commodity price assessments, analysis and news coverage, maintaining and expanding the contact base and representing Argus at industry events. The reporter will also spearhead development of market coverage alongside the associate editor and the global agriculture editorial team.

Candidates should possess good writing, mathematical and computing skills. Candidates should also be confident with data and spreadsheets. Prior experience or interest in the agriculture sector would be beneficial, although not essential.

What we’re looking for in you

  • Interest in becoming an expert of the Australian livestock and meat industry
  • Knowledge of the commodities markets, particularly agriculture, useful but not essential
  • Excellent writing, grammar and numeracy skills (these will be tested as part of the interview process) and a drive to produce high-quality written content
  • Ability to use data to generate stories and analysis is preferred, while a willingness to learn is essential
  • Prior experience of working in the financial or commodities journalism is useful but not essential
  • Strong co-ordination and time management skills with the ability to work well within a team, and a keen eye for detail

Hours

Flexible working hours on most days, Monday through Friday

Earlier or later hours expected on every Thursdays (10 am – 6 pm or 9 am – 6 pm).

Some weekend hours, may be expected on occasion.
