About Animal Medicines Australia
An exciting opportunity to join a small, committed and professional secretariat based in Canberra. Animal Medicines Australia (AMA) is a membership-based association representing companies that produce products to support the health and welfare of Australia's animals. The association works with stakeholders with an interest in animal care to promote animal health, support responsible and sustainable livestock industries, and encourage long-lasting and rewarding pet ownership experiences
About the position
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager - Animal Health Communications is the primary point of contact for all media and communications activities for AMA. Working with AMA members and staff, you will develop and deliver a range of print, digital and social media content in support of AMA's policy objectives. You will also be responsible for building relationships with key media to support AMA's advocacy to governments.
You will work in partnership across AMA staff to develop member communications materials outlining industry positions, activities and priorities.
You will also work with the Executive Director to prepare research on pet ownership in Australia to facilitate better public policy on pet ownership, enabling better outcomes for pets and their owners.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a background in a similar media and communications role within a member advocacy organisation or government agency. You will have a demonstrated experience in writing media releases, newsletters and other documents on complex policy and regulatory issues. You will need to demonstrate high-level media engagement and communication skills that enable you to build strong and effective working relationships with AMA's members and key stakeholders.
The successful applicant will be able to work independently, with excellent initiative, drive and determination. A proactive approach to engaging with staff, members and stakeholders and eagerness to learn about the positive role animal health products and veterinary medicines play will be well regarded.
