The Role
The Manager Animal Ethics is responsible for the management and leadership of the Animal Ethics function and the development and implementation of initiatives and programs which align with the University’s Looking Ahead Strategic Plan 2020-2025.
The role will provide expert advice and training to researchers on animal ethics matters, and develop policies, procedures, guidelines and internal processes to ensure that the University's research is conducted according to the highest ethical and safety standards.
The role will also be responsible for ongoing business and process improvement to ensure the University is well placed to respond to a changing higher education and compliance landscape and take advantage of new opportunities to strengthen research operations.
As the Manager Animal Ethics, you will be in a key leadership position within the ethics team, working closely with the University’s Animal Care and Ethics Committee (ACEC), researchers, and senior leaders. You will be able to lead business improvement initiatives and provide leadership and management for the animal ethics team and operations.

You will have:
- Relevant qualifications, experience working with animals in research, and a good understanding and knowledge of animal welfare
- Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship building skills
- Experience designing and implementing researcher development activities and initiatives

Conditions & Benefits
Salary range (HEW8) is $102,667 to $119,778 plus 17% superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.
This is a 3- year fixed term, full time position and is located at the Callaghan Campus.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to design and implement researcher development activities and initiatives in the field of laboratory animal science and animal welfare.
