The Role:
We are in search of an experienced stock person to take on this exciting first-time offered role of Livestock Manager (‘LM’) near Bevendale, NSW. It will be the responsibility of the new LM to play a key hands-on role alongside management in optimizing production, profitability, and delivery against the annual business plan.
To be successful in this role you must be a team player and be willing to help in all facets if required to do so. Ideally, you will be well educated on animal husbandry and everyday management as it will be part of the job to organise shearing, lamb marking, crutching and the preparation of stock for sale including liaising with agents. This is an opportunity for the right candidate to be involved in other aspects of this exciting business as they work as a team to achieve their goals.
Key accountabilities and Skills:
- All aspects of animal husbandry, health and production
- Have a good team of working dogs
- Monitoring ewes during lambing
- Stock movements emphasise a low-stress handling method
- Implement, monitor pasture, and capital developments
- General farm maintenance
- Operate and maintain machinery
- Abide by all WHS practices
- Lead team members through effective working relationships
- Be energetic, innovative, and hardworking
- Have high attention to detail and record-keeping
- Be open to learning and developing skills
- Computer literacy skills
- Flexibility in work hours to achieve targets
If successful in joining this family-run business your opinion will be valued and sought in decision making in all aspects of animal husbandry. It will be considered an advantage to have or be willing to obtain a First Aid certificate and chemical certificate.
The Property & Employer:
Our clients are a friendly family-owned and operated farming enterprise spread across three properties totalling 10,000 acres nestled in the southwest slopes of NSW. With an annual rainfall of 650 mm and highly productive soils of basalt and granite, this intensive business currently runs 8,000 Merino breeders, 4000 followers, 4,000 wethers and 100 Angus breeders.

In recent years there have been extensive infrastructure developments including a new Proway hydraulic race, new loading ramps, Midpro jetting system, laneways, and excellent water infrastructure. Renovations are planned to start soon and in the interim suitable accommodation will provided until they are finished. There is school bus access past the front gate and the property is located 30 km from Crookwell and 65 km from Goulburn which provides medical services, secondary & primary schooling, employment opportunities for partners, and major shopping centres.
