Please note: Due to Machinery of Government changes under Section 30 of the Public Administration Act (PAA), effective 1 January 2023, your employment will be with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action. Corporate Services, including payroll, will be provided by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions while a process for the formal transfer of staff in impacted areas is implemented.
This Livestock Industry Development Officer position will work within a team delivering regional (with a focus on the South West region) and state-wide services. This position is critical in the design and delivery of targeted, relevant, and accessible services to beef and sheep farm businesses in collaboration with regional industry and service providers that align to Agriculture Victoria priorities. This includes services that assist farm business to be productive and profitable, adapt to climate change, navigate and to prepare for changes to farming systems, respond and recover from natural disasters and biosecurity events.
The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a team to provide integrated services for our clientele, enjoy flexible working arrangements and undertake a wide variety of work across the division, involving the provision of integrated services to producers, service providers, industry groups and regional stakeholders.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- A tertiary degree in Science, Agricultural Science, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics or similar
This is a fixed term position available until 29 August 2024 with a flexible work location within South West Victoria and hybrid work arrangements available.
