  • Fixed-term full time position (Leave cover from June 2024 to May 2025)
  • Based at Healesville Sanctuary
  • Monday to Friday roster with weekend Officer in Charge shifts as required
  • Band 6 $107,824 plus 11% superannuation

The Life Sciences Manager-Mammal team leads and empowers the keeping team to create a positive workplace culture, provide high quality animal care, and support impactful visitor experiences.  The Life Sciences Manager will work closely with the other Life Sciences Managers and the General Manager of Life Sciences to deliver the objectives of the Life Sciences department and Zoos Victoria across Healesville Sanctuary. We are looking for a candidate with the skills to develop and maintain positive and effective relationships in a dynamic zoo environment.

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead the Mammal team in developing visitor experience programs that are integrated with animal care events and have experience maintaining display exhibit standards.
  • Possess a sound knowledge of animal welfare principles, be accountable for ensuring animal's environments support their welfare needs and be committed to implementing animal training and enrichment programs.
  • Have proven experience leading teams and promoting positive team cultures
  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills and creative approaches to problem solving
  • Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to organise and train volunteers to support the Life Sciences department
