Description

The Department of Equine Clinical Science, School of Veterinary Science, seeks to appoint a veterinary clinical epidemiologist with a track record of successful research income and high-quality outputs and who has a genuine interest in evidence-based veterinary medicine and developing research projects and research links with veterinary professionals.

This post would suit a veterinary surgeon (MRCVS or eligible) with a PhD (or equivalent degree) in clinical epidemiology, or, an individual with a PhD (or equivalent degree) in veterinary clinical epidemiology and a strong background in veterinary science.

We seek a motivated individual who has the ability to identify clinically relevant research questions, undertake and publish high level clinical applied research including cohort / longitudinal and interventional studies and who can obtain research funding. An interest and skills in data informatics including handling of large datasets, interrogation and reporting of data using veterinary practice management systems and data reporting platforms such as Tableau would be advantageous.

This is an academic position with the primary role around developing and leading veterinary clinical epidemiological research within the department, across the wider University and to develop collaborations with other veterinary professionals working in academia and veterinary practice, including veterinary corporate groups, and to lead / contribute to knowledge exchange activities.

The post will be split between teaching and research and you will contribute to delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in related subjects in the courses delivered by the School of Veterinary Science. This will include teaching of epidemiology and data-handling skills to BVSc students and PG students, including taught PG programmes run by the Veterinary Postgraduate Unit. You will also be expected to support academics with development of these skills including, interns and residents.
