Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer in Rural Animal Health based at our Aberdeen Campus.
The postholder will be responsible for the development and delivery of teaching and research in the area of Rural Animal Health with a particular focus on the development of novel new courses designed to train practitioners working in the area of farm animal health. Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent and with experience in the delivery and development of academic courses.
Duties will include:
- Arranging/organising and developing materials for teaching as required and delivering lectures to students at a variety of levels
- Interacting with students to check knowledge and understanding and providing constructive feedback to learners on their performance
- Setting students project activity and conducting student assessment in accordance with Awarding Body and Regulatory Body standards
- Maintaining appropriate records of teaching, assessment and attendance.
- Undertaking administration for external bodies as required
- Provision of educational guidance, learning support, counselling and tutorials as required
- Participate in study tours meetings and on-farm working
- Contribution to recruitment activity for Rural Animal Health involving attending and contribution to the planning of Open Days/Applicant Days/Taster Days/CPD Events/ Careers Evenings/College promotional events, local and national shows to provide advice
- Member of Animal and Science Programme Team (cross campus teaching via blended delivery)
- Acting as year tutor for students
- Providing careers advice (pre-entry and pre-exit) to students
You should possess a minimum PhD or relevant experience in Rural Animal Health or related subjects or be a fully Qualified Veterinary Surgeon. A postgraduate teaching qualification in Higher or Further Education is highly desirable.
You should have work experience and experience of teaching in the area of Rural Animal Health including large animal handling with theoretical and practical knowledge of teaching in Rural Animal Health and theoretical knowledge of animal science.
This is a full-time post on a fixed term contract up to 2 years.
