The Post

The Faculty of Natural Sciences (FNS) is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Teaching & Research) to join the Institute of Aquaculture in the area of animal behaviour and welfare with a focus on aquatic organisms. The post is open to scientists applying different experimental approaches in both model and non-model aquatic species. Research may span from ethology, neurobiology, behavioural ecology or animal welfare science to inform the welfare of established, emerging or new candidate species for aquaculture combined with the use of new technologies (acoustic systems, sensors, AI/machine learning).

The post holder will be expected to deliver internationally excellent publications, contributions to Impact Case Studies for the next Research Excellence Framework (REF) period and contribute to developing a strong research culture. Similarly, the candidate will be expected to deliver high quality teaching and supervision to UGs, PGTs and PGRs in behaviour and welfare. We are interested in receiving applications from those already working in aquaculture or related fields. Equally we would like to hear from candidates currently not in the aquaculture sector who can demonstrate how their experience can offer innovative approaches to address existing and new research questions in this rapidly growing field.
