We have an exciting opportunity at Writtle University College to appoint 2 enthusiastic and motivated Animal Science Lecturers to join our Department of Animal Science team, to support the delivery of high quality, innovative teaching across our undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum.
Our Animal Science and Animal Management courses have seen substantial growth in student numbers on our most recently validated courses, with new and exciting content to deliver. The ideal candidates will have in-depth knowledge in one or more aspects of Animal Science, preferably in genetics and/or animal breeding and animal health science that are key subject areas for our undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
The Department of Animal Science works closely with different sectors of the animal industry including livestock production, zoo and wildlife conservation and pet behaviour. We have recently gained significant funding from Research England to support Knowledge Exchange projects in pig nutrition and health, precision sheep management and breeding, zoo research and clinical animal behaviour training. With a new investment in our facilities, we are hoping that this will provide an exciting role for an individual looking to develop their academic career with us.
The candidates should hold postgraduate qualification in Animal Science or related subjects (PhD preferred),and be in possession of a teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one. Previous relevant academic or industry experience and an understanding of conducting academic research would be advantageous. Within this varied role, you will be required to design, implement, assess, support and evaluate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The job holder will be part of well established, professional, experienced and supportive team of specialists, already teaching on a variety of programs.
