Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Plant & Animal Products, UCD School of Agriculture & Food Science, Temporary 4 Year Contract
Applications are invited for a Temporary post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Plant & Animal Products within UCD School of Agriculture & Food Science
This is a full-time, 4-year academic post and the appointee will join a team of 23 full-time academics within the Section who offer a diverse portfolio of programmes including a BSc Food Science, a BSc Human Nutrition, an MSc Food Nutrition & Health (online) and a BSc Food Quality & Safety at Guangzhou Dublin International College of Life Science and Technology (GDIC).
The appointee will spend one trimester (up to 16 weeks) per academic year teaching, delivering modules, assessing students and engaging with local staff at South China Agricultural University (SCAU) in Guangzhou, China, as a member of a team delivering several degree programmes at GDIC. The appointee may also contribute to teaching on UCD’s Belfield campus. Undergraduate teaching will primarily be in the areas of Plant (i.e. Cereals and Vegetables) and Animal (i.e. Meat and Dairy) Products and will include both primary products and their associated commodities (e.g. meat, dairy, cereal, and brewed products). The appointee will also deliver a module on One Health (Plants, Animals, Humans, Environment) as part of the BSc in Biological Sciences at GDIC.
The appointee will be expected to develop their own research programme that will be largely based in Ireland but may include activities overseas (including China).
We are looking for highly motivated candidates who have a demonstrated aptitude, commitment and passion for teaching and research in their areas of expertise. Candidates must have a PhD in an appropriate discipline, a vision and capacity to carry out independent research, excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, and teaching experience. The candidate should complement and engage actively with current academic staff in the Section, School and wider UCD community, and make a significant contribution to teaching, research and university life.
Salary: 95 Lecturer/Asst Professor Above The Bar (7943) €55,951 - €88,601 per annum
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
