Description

The University seeks a highly motivated animal scientist with expertise in animal health and welfare to join the team supporting Animal Sciences at undergraduate and postgraduate level at the university. This post is a maternity cover post, full time for a maximum duration of one year.

The appointee will have a specific role to participate in the support and delivery of the Animal Sciences degree programmes and in particular animal health and welfare related modules across a range of programme areas. The department delivers undergraduate programmes in Agriculture, Veterinary Biosciences and Animal Health, Welfare and Behaviour, and a range of professional and postgraduate programmes, which can be viewed on the University web site. The role has a strong animal health content including, but not limited to, microbiology, parasitology, immunology, disease control and diagnostic techniques. The position may involve some collaboration in the delivery of the Veterinary Medicine programme within the Harper and Keele Veterinary School. 

 

Key qualifications, skills and experience required

Essential:

  • A relevant first degree, e.g. Animal Science, Animal Biology, Zoology or Bioveterinary Science.
  • Experience of participation in the delivery of teaching or profession related training, preferably at Higher Education level.
  • Appropriate role related knowledge and skills.
  • The right candidate will show a high level of organisational ability and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously as the needs of the role demand.

 

Desirable:

  • Knowledge transfer and related publications.
  • Experience in a scientific laboratory setting.
  • Knowledge specifically relating to farm animal health and welfare.
