Laboratory Scientist

Padula Serums is a regionally based innovative antiserum products manufacturer for the Australian veterinary industry.  The facility is licensed with the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority. A part-time role (0.4) is available for a suitably experience and qualified person to perform laboratory work to support biologics manufacturing.  The hours of the role are flexible, and the workload varies throughout the year depending on manufacturing. The position requires an ability to work independently, solve problems, whilst maintaining attention to detail and adherence to protocol.  The position is based in Bairnsdale, Victoria.

Duties

• Performance of quality control testing for biological products
• Management and performance of routine laboratory and facility equipment maintenance including scheduling and outsourcing where required
• Assay validation, protocol development and improvement
• Assistance from time to time with production of biologicals
• Maintenance of paper and electronic records
• Laboratory support of research projects from time to time
• Environmental monitoring of cleanroom facility

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant scientific discipline (chemistry, microbiology, medical, biological, laboratory, veterinary, etc)

Experience

• At least 5 years working experience in a laboratory environment
• Experience with performing microplate and other immunological or protein assays
• ELISA, colorimetric assays, biological assays
• GMP, NATA or ISO laboratory experience
• Basic microbiological techniques
• Experience with electronic systems for laboratory management
• Working in a regulated environment

Remuneration

A competitive pro-rata annual package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
