Position Overview
As a Veterinary Intern in Equine Clinical Studies, you will primarily be assisting with the provision of equine diagnostic and treatment services to the referral and first opinion cases in the Equine Veterinary Clinic. You will be assigned on a rotating basis to clinical services and will be scheduled for after-hours on-call duties. The position includes participation in the clinical teaching of undergraduates, including supervision of final year students in the veterinary teaching hospital, and practical classes within the veterinary and equine science programs. A suitably motivated and eligible applicant will have the opportunity to enrol in a Massey University post-graduate program, which may involve a clinically-oriented research project.
You should possess a veterinary degree registerable (General or Limited Academic Scope) with the Veterinary Council of New Zealand [http://www.vetcouncil.org.nz/gainReg.php]. If you are only eligible for Limited registration with VCNZ, then you must provide evidence of English proficiency in accordance with the requirements of the VCNZ [http://www.vetcouncil.org.nz]. A successful applicant would preferably have a minimum of one year of mixed or equine veterinary practice experience, although recent graduates will be considered. You must also possess initiative, enthusiasm, flexibility, and effective communication skills and be able to work within a dynamic team environment.
This 1 year fixed term role is expected to commence July 1st, 2019
