Animalius is offering two new INTERNSHIPS in 2022 in Small Animal Surgery and Small Animal Medicine.
These are fixed-term (1 year) positions for those who are dedicated to transitioning into a residency program in Surgery and Internal Medicine, either in our hospital, or in another referral centre.
Our hospital is Perth’s newest specialist hospital, purpose-built, and architect designed. Our specialist team comprises internal medicine, radiology, surgery, dentistry, anesthesia, and dermatology, with residents training in radiology. The Surgical team comprises one registered specialist surgeon and a team of dedicated surgical nurses and hospital vets. The Medicine team comprises one registered specialist internist, one registrar, and a team of dedicated nurses and hospital vets.
Interns in both departments will play an important role in optimizing workflow by maximizing patient care, communicating about requirements during hospitalization, and assisting with patient treatments (including surgeries or medical procedures). They will evolve their knowledge in either discipline with the aim of having written a case report ready for publication by the end of their term.
The ideal candidates for either position will have
- a growth mindset and be hungry to learn, eager for feedback, resilient, adaptable, and prepared to reflect on their performance and team cohesion.
- proficiency in being efficient and well organized
- already passed ANZCVS Membership examinations in Surgery or Medicine or be close to sitting (i.e. at least 3 years post-graduation)
- had experience in a referral setting (e.g, completion of a rotational internship)
- a proven track record of working productively in teams
