The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Veterinary Teaching Hospital invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, Instructor in the Integrated Food Animal Management Systems (IFAMS) group. The IFAMS section consists of seven core faculty, two house officers, three graduate students, and two technical staff. We deliver core and elective courses across all four years of the professional curriculum, have a large and diverse research program, service local, national, and international food producers, and deliver educational programs for producers and veterinarians locally, nationally, and internationally.

Requirements: The candidate must have extensive experience in embryo transfer work. Preference will be given to candidates who have clinical expertise in this field and certification by the American Embryo Transfer Association for embryo freezing and transfer. The ideal candidate will be able to build a program and case load based on advanced assisted reproductive techniques for cattle and small ruminants. Candidates must have a DVM degree or equivalent. They must have a willingness to instruct students and house officers with varied experience. Certification in the American College of Theriogenology within six years is an expectation for this position if the candidate in not currently a Diplomate.

 

Duties: This position is a 100% appointment in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine. The appointment will be full-time and will be a non-tenured academic position with a starting date on or about December 1, 2021. The primary responsibilities associated with this position will be to lead the continued development and growth of advanced assisted reproductive techniques, specifically embryo transfer and in-vitro fertilization (IVF) in cattle, sheep, and goats. Collaborative delivery of instruction in the third-year core didactic and fourth-year core clinical rotations will be expected. Emergency duties will be shared with fellow clinicians in an equitable manner.
