Position Highlights

The University of Arizona’s College of Veterinary Medicine invites applicants for the position of Instructional Technology Professional. This position provides high quality support to Academic Programs and faculty course leads for UA-CVM pre-clerkship students in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine professional program. The successful candidates will exercise initiative, resourcefulness, and good judgment working in an environment that is very fast-paced. The successful candidates will have extensive knowledge in using a variety of computer software programs, have a high proficiency and comfort in multi-tasking, possess a strong customer service orientation, and have strong oral and written communication skills. Successful candidates must demonstrate a high capacity to respond to requests in a timely manner with diplomacy and discretion. This position will serve as the first point of contact for many students in the college and it is imperative that all are treated with respect and feel welcome. This job is in-person at our Oro Valley campus, Monday-Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely and collaboratively with faculty and staff, gathers documents and information and enters it into Elentra (the Learning Management System), and manages editing process for accurate and time sensitive data entry.
  • Enters and updates information into relevant databases, ensuring secure backup and informing appropriate audiences.
  • Communicates and liaises with course leads, students, and administrators.
  • Maintains course protocols, materials, exam questions, and test results. Enters course exams and troubleshoots the electronic exam process and protects exam security.
  • Reserves and sets up classrooms and laboratories.
  • Operates the timer and spinner in Team-Based Learning (TBL) and Peer Instruction (PI) environments.
  • Assists faculty and students with IT needs in the classroom and computerizes and imports data files to produce reports.
  • Provides assistance in the direct integration of technology into course curricula.
  • Lead projects to develop innovative uses of technology for student learning, and/or community building.
  • Researches and evaluates new educational technology practices, products and services, and the software that supports them.
  • Acts as back-up to the current ITT team on providing classroom technology Audio-Video Support
  • Works with CVM IT department to maintain student loaner laptops

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of LMS software concept (Learning Management Systems)
  • Understanding of basic concepts of data structures and storage (flat files, databases, forms) 
  • Good command of English language 
  • Expert knowledge of MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to establish rapport and gain trust of others and to establish cooperative working relationships with staff, faculty, administrators, and students 
  • Ability to concentrate and focus on accuracy and in a fast-paced working environment
  • Proficient touch typing skills
  • Comfortable with running and managing audio-visual equipment

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Learning Management
  • Experience with Web Applications
  • Experience in higher education classrooms
