Expressions of interest are sought from dedicated and suitably qualified persons for appointment as the Inspector-General of Biosecurity (IGB), established by the Biosecurity Act 2015.

The IGB conducts independent evaluation and verification of the appropriateness of biosecurity risk management programs across the biosecurity continuum. Details about the work of the IGB can be found at igb.gov.au. Applicants will need to demonstrate:

  • suitable qualifications or experience in science, auditing or systems assessment
  • understanding of domestic and international biosecurity arrangements
  • ability to negotiate, liaise and communicate effectively
  • ability to prepare accurate, coherent and concise reports on technical issues.

 

A degree in veterinary or agricultural science from an Australian tertiary institution or a comparable overseas qualification recognised in Australia is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be appointed to the position on a part-time basis for three years from late July 2022.
