Horticulture Imports Adviser/Senior Adviser – Two vacancies (Permanent full time and 12-month fixed term full time)

This role will allow you to take your science knowledge or work experience and apply it to real-world decision-making that directly impacts and adds value to NZ's biosecurity and the economy.

We have two exciting roles for talented, engaging, and constructive individuals. We are looking for two Advisers/Senior Advisers within the Horticulture Imports Team, in the Animal and Plant Health Directorate.  The role is responsible for managing the biosecurity risk to New Zealand through the development and review of import standards and requirements for fresh fruit and vegetables, entering NZ. This role provides an opportunity to apply your technical expertise in plant protection and risk management alongside your knowledge of stakeholder engagement and project management.

 

Mōu - About You

In these roles you will use your horticultural or plant biological sciences degree (or related discipline) or work experience operating in a regulatory environment.  You will also be able to demonstrate the practical application of:

  • Managing competing priorities in the work plan
  • Providing technical information for bilateral discussions
  • Knowing/understanding biological and crop production systems
  • Problem solving and a ‘can do' attitude

The salary range for this role is $ 66,000 - $ 124,000 depending on skills and experience
