About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head Veterinary Nurse to join our dynamic team. As the Head Veterinary Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in leading our nursing team, ensuring the smooth operation of clinical services, and maintaining the highest level of patient care and supporting pet owners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the veterinary nursing team.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the nursing department, ensuring efficiency and excellence in patient care.
  • Development and implementation of clinical protocols and procedures as needed.
  • Coordinate and manage the nursing/reception roster to always ensure adequate cover.
  • Support the veterinary surgeons during consultations, surgeries, and procedures.
  • Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of surgical and clinical areas.
  • Provide training and support for nursing staff and kennel hands.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and manage stock control.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative working environment.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN), Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing or similar with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical setting.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary procedures, protocols, and patient care.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage a dynamic team.
  • Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing high-quality care.
