Veterinary Head Nurse
The successful candidate will have the responsibility of leading a small team of dedicated staff. Our ideal candidate is professional, passionate about nursing, attentive to maintaining clinical standards, driving improvement and providing the best possible standard of care!
This is a permanent full-time role. Rostered Mondays – Fridays with some weekend or on call hours.
Hourly Rate negotiable dependant on experience.
We are looking for a Head Nurse to guide and develop our team, maintaining and building on our positive team culture! We are looking for someone to:

- manage, supervise and coordinate our nursing staff and related duties to ensure the high-quality patient care we are known for.
- maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of the clinic and its workflow, keeping operational functions well-coordinated, functional and to completion.
- ensure all relevant standards are adhered to and ensure staff are updated of any changes to protocols
- organise and direct monthly staff meetings and training sessions. Encourage participation in continuous skills and knowledge education
- work in sync with the Vets and Practice Manager to manage workflow and clientele
- be flexible, adaptable and has an extensive knowledge of veterinary nursing procedures

About your new role:
- Full-time role managing a team of Vet Nurses and supporting busy Vets
- Managing, supporting and developing the Nurse team, building a positive team culture
- Undertaking general nursing tasks, including pre and post-operative care, animal pathology. emergency and critical care
- Performing minor procedures and nurse consults as required
- Handling client enquiries professionally
- Induction, training, and continual development of nursing staff
- To develop and improve veterinary nursing processes and procedures
- Work closely with the Head Veterinarian to coordinate the consult and surgery schedules
- Perform high level nursing tasks without supervision
- Assisting with general and surgical nursing duties
What you’ll bring:
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing with minimum 3+ years nursing experience
- Management experience will also be highly regarded
