The Position
Reporting to the Provost and Deputy President through the Dean of Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC), the Head of Department will provide leadership and strategic direction in research, teaching, provision of clinical services at the University’s subsidiaries CityUHK Veterinary Medical Centre and CityUHK Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and professional education for the Department. The Head will encourage and promote academic excellence, and steer the Department to enhance the mission and vision of the University in alignment with the University’s Strategic Plan.
The Person
A PhD degree, and a veterinary qualification recognised for registration as a veterinary surgeon in Hong Kong including a degree in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc), or equivalent. Board certification (European, Australian/New Zealand, American, or equivalent Boards) in a relevant discipline enabling registration as a veterinary specialist in Hong Kong is required. A distinguished record of research, teaching and scholarship, and substantial relevant experience in tertiary education; outstanding management effectiveness; commitment to teamwork; and strong communication and networking skills to build and nurture internal and external contacts to the benefit of the Department.
Salary and Conditions of Service
The appointee will be offered appointment to an academic rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. The headship appointment will be on a concurrent basis for an initial period of about three years. An attractive remuneration package, driven by market competitiveness and individual performance, will be offered.
