First established in 1936, Lort Smith - North Melbourne is a state-of-the-art facility providing comprehensive clinical and surgical services for pets of all species. From routine check-ups to emergency treatment, our team of over 100 vets and nurses are here for Melbourne’s pets and their people.

About the program
This is a 12-month program specially tailored to suit new graduates. Over the course of those 12 months, successful applicants will be gradually introduced to the day-to-day workings of our newly redeveloped hospital at North Melbourne.
You’ll be mentored by experienced veterinarians and upskilled in all manner of consultations, inpatient care and surgery.

This opportunity is available to new or recent graduates, starting January 2025.
About You
- Formal qualifications in Veterinary Medicine
- Registered to practice as a veterinarian in Victoria
- Flexibility and reliability to work a variety of weekday day, evening and weekend shifts, including some public holidays
- Solid interpersonal skills and a friendly, positive attitude
- An aptitude to succeed in a fast-paced, animal hospital
- Strong communication skills
- A genuine interest in working at an organisation that genuinely serves community
