Zoos Victoria operates three landmark zoos, Healesville Sanctuary, Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo. We are seeking experienced and senior professionals to lead the Life Sciences department at the Healesville Sanctuary on a full-time basis for 6 months. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to demonstrate and enhance their leadership skills.
As a member of the Sanctuary's Senior Management Team, this position is the leading strategist and tactician for the Sanctuary's wildlife and ensures that:
- Animals at Healesville Sanctuary are cared for according to Zoos Victoria's animal policies
- Zoo Victoria's conservation goals are integrated into animal management priorities and practices
- Animal health and welfare standards are world's best practice
- Wildlife experiences delivered to visitors by the Life Sciences Team embody Zoos Victoria's visitor engagement theme of 'Connect, Understand, Act'
- The Life Sciences Team is managed safely and to ensure the most effective use of all its resources
- Exhibit and animal display projects are delivered on time, within budget and in line with Zoos Victoria's strategies
- The Life Sciences Team contributes to the planning of new exhibits, conservation projects, and education programs that increase public understanding of wildlife and wildlife conservation
