Description

The role of Foster Care Coordinator touches on all facets of the RSPCA NSW Illawarra Shelter with the purpose of growing, coordinating and supporting the Foster Care Program, so that the RSPCA NSW can continue to nurture more vulnerable animals in the community.

As Foster Care Coordinator, you will match suitable animals to Foster Carers, ensuring that they have all of the training, support and equipment they need to care for animals in their homes and work with RSPCA NSW Shelters to coordinate and deliver the vaccination program for animals in foster care.

About the Role

  • Ensure high standards of care are maintained for all RSPCA NSW Illawarra Shelter animals
  • Induct, train and provide ongoing support to Foster Carers' on behalf of RSPCA NSW Illawarra Shelter
  • Assist in the coordination of Foster Care activities to ensure the ongoing health and medical treatment of foster care animals within RSPCA NSW Illawarra Shelter
  • Support and assist staff in recognising the importance of foster carers to the organisation
  • Provide advice, support and ongoing treatment as required for Foster Carers as well as shelter and clinic teams
  • Assist RSPCA NSW Veterinarians with following up on foster outpatient progress
  • Deliver Foster Care training for Foster Carers and shelter staff as required
  • Supporting Foster Care communications such as social functions, newsletters and/or social media
  • Ensure the health, behaviour and general wellbeing of each animal in foster care is monitored and medical issues are dealt with or reported in appropriate manner
  • Help Foster Carers feel welcome and supported
  • Maintain positive effective relationships with Foster Carers and internal stakeholders
  • Communicate with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Resolve conflict and support the grievance process
  • Support and nurture the Foster Care Administration volunteers

Noting, occasional work may be required, including outside of normal business hours and weekends.

About You

  • Certificate II in Animal Care, or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in animal husbandry
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Confident in animal handling
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings, conduct effective consultations with volunteers, community groups and organisations, service providers and staff
  • Able to deliver exceptional results, on time and within budget to meet identified program requirements
  • Work unsupervised with internal motivation to drive results
  • Strong skills in the development and implementation of processes and procedures to support RSPCA NSW objectives and customer expectations
  • Ability to accept responsibilities and accountabilities and be focused on delivering outcomes to meet RSPCA NSW objectives
  • Demonstrated relationship management, high level interpersonal and awareness skills
  • An ability to communicate clearly and convincingly and influence outcomes across all levels
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in tracking and reporting within a CRM
  • Strong project, organisational and administration skills
  • High sensitivity to reputational risk
  • Conflict resolution, mediation and problem-solving skills
  • Confidence and experience in working with Microsoft Office and databases
