The Society's staff have expertise in all feline welfare issues – from veterinary matters to the issues of stray cat management

Reporting to the Shelter Manager you will manage the day to day Foster Care Program in entirety from the CPS shelter in accordance to the Code of Practice for the Operations of Shelters and Pounds 2011

The positions are permanent Part-Time on a job share basis over 7 days, each position is approximately 24 hours per week. Flexibility is essential as being a shelter, we operate 7 days a week 365 days a year. Residing in or near Greensborough is desirable

 

Duties

  • Manage the day to day Foster Care Program from the Cat Protection Society
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork in relation to foster Carer's is maintained promptly and efficiently while working closely with Shelter Manager and Senior Head Vet
  • Ensure all Foster Carer's have all necessary resources provided to them to ensure the high-quality care of our cats’ onsite or offsite in our care
  • Co-ordinate placement of foster animals into appropriate foster homes based on their medical or behaviour requirements as directed by The Veterinary team or Shelter Manager
  • Coordinate booking and method of delivery of foster animals to internal and external vet services if required for medical treatment
  • Act as a point of contact for foster Carer's and maintain effective relationships
  • Continuously grow the Foster Program by recruiting, training and supervising new Carer's
  • Continuously develop and deliver training to current Foster Carer's
  • Provide regular updates to shelter Manager and Head Vet to review performance of various aspects of the foster care regional program
  • Promote and provide best practice animal care and services
  • Maintain and organise foster supplies for the program, including donated items to CPS
  • Punctual Attendance and accountability of time

 

Essential skills and Knowledge.

  • Previous Animal Husbandry experience essential
  • Established knowledge and understanding of feline behaviour
  • Established understanding of preventative health products and procedures.
  • Established understanding of disease prevention
  • Knowledge of Customer Logic Vet (CLVET) desirable but willing to train
  • Proven and established animal husbandry and handling knowledge with the ability to triage feline health concerns and deciding the best course of action
  • Demonstration of genuine concern, compassion and care for all animals
  • Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the shelter team, the animals and internal and external customers by offering suggestions and participating as an active team member
  • Established computer/data entry skills with experience using Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint
  • Ability to work well within a team as well as independently
  • Ability to work well under pressure, remaining calm and focused in a stressful fast paced environment, but still achieve results
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Exhibit professional conduct when communicating with colleagues and all those associated with CPS
  • Proven ability to time manage efficiently with a strong attention to detail
