About the job
Aorangi Vets is searching for a forward-thinking mixed animal veterinarian for a fixed term period (Nov 2024 – end of March 2025) who is able to quickly and effectively fit into our team and start making a difference.
This role could be full-time or part time, to enable you to enjoy all that a South Canterbury summer has to offer.
Remuneration is competitive and negotiable, based upon experience, skill set, and ability.
The role will include contribution to the after-hours schedule on a rostered basis.
About us
We are an owner/operator mixed animal practice proudly serving Canterbury and the Mackenzie Country for more than 45 years. With clinics in Geraldine, Fairlie, and Timaru, our vision is to be the people’s vet practice of choice.
Judging by our loyal client base, we think we’re on the right track.
We are a team who fosters positive relationships through communication and awareness and we’re proud to deliver progressive evidence based veterinary medicine. We focus on preventative animal health to improve the lives of people and their animals.
Our private independent practice places value on having a high-functioning collegial team, that achieves our goals while having fun. We consider ourselves a supportive, and quality-motivated practice. Our emphasis is on providing high standards of client care, good outcomes, and a sense of satisfaction from a job well done.
We have nursing and technician teams to support us in providing excellent vet medicine. This allows us to practice preventative medicine with an animal health and wellbeing focus in a positive environment.
As you would expect of rural New Zealand, we have a significant farm animal and companion animal client base allowing this role to cover many disciplines. However, many of our vets have areas of special interest which we encourage and support.
Over the years, this has resulted in the development of expertise in areas such as small animal reproduction, orthopaedics, emergency medicine, sheep AI, acupuncture, cattle nutrition, and membership in dairy cattle medicine. We value continued learning and find it rewarding helping our clients.
Our offering to you
We located in the stunning South Island of New Zealand, about 1.5 hours south of Christchurch and its international airport.
With a drive time of just over an hour from mountains to the sea, we truly live the snow to surf lifestyle here. The Timaru District offers an enviable way of life with high quality affordable housing, access to excellent facilities, schools, and great café/dining scene, plus one of New Zealand’s best loved beaches.
Wanaka, Queenstown, and the Southern Lakes all beckon as easy weekend visits, as does majestic Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park.
We offer excellent CPD opportunities, NZVA and VCNZ registration fees are covered, delicious refreshments served at meetings (and our frequent social occasions) and a fun, friendly, supportive, environment.
We’re the sort of team who know how many sugars you take in your tea (or coffee) and will ask how the game went for your youngest on Saturday.
We care. For each other, for the animals and for our clients. Come join us.
