Farm & Livestock Technician
BTG Specialty Pharmaceuticals provides rescue medicines typically used in emergency rooms and intensive care units to treat patients for whom there are limited treatment options.
Reporting to the Farm & Livestock Supervisor, this role starting immediately, is responsible for the management of BTG sheep flocks at our Mintaro site. This will include performing paddock inspections, day to day husbandry tasks, machinery operation and supplementary feeding activities in conjunction with other Technicians. Working as part of a small team, guided by Company values. Maintenance and Production tasks will also form part of this role.
The successful applicant will be:
- Confident with the ability to work with employees at all levels of seniority utilising excellent communication skills, both on an internal and external basis.
- Competent, methodical, highly organised individual who pays strict attention to detail and has the ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks accurately within a high-pressure environment.
- Strong organisational skills are essential and an ability to plan ahead with a focus on problem solving and continuous improvement.
- A creative thinker able to solve problems, question the status quo and consider innovative solutions to complex issues.
- Capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Able to work as part of a team and demonstrate initiative when required with a flexible and willing attitude at all times.
Qualifications sought for this role include:
- A tertiary qualification in Agriculture or Animal Husbandry is desirable but not essential
- Previous animal handling experience is essential
- A car licence is essential
- Front end loader / Telehandler licences / certificates would be advantageous
- Good literacy and numeracy skills are essential
- Solid experience with Microsoft Office suite of products is required.
