  • Base salary from $53,500p.a. - $58,955p.a. (depending on skills, qualifications and experience) + super  

 

About the Role 

In your new role as Farm Assistant reporting to the Farm Manager, you will perform farming activities for the Yanco Agricultural Institute.  You will apply your best practice farm management skills, while maintaining a commercial focus in relation to research activities.  This will include:

  • Undertake general crop, pasture, animal and farm operations
  • Horticultural activities such as irrigation scheduling, pruning, herbicide and insecticide spraying, harvest, and cover cropping
  • Handle livestock and maintain the welfare of farm animals
  • Operate and maintain tractors and other farm equipment
  • Maintain farm and grounds as required including fencing, road works maintenance, and repair of Department buildings, plant and equipment.
  • Accurately record details of stock, paddock, chemical and machinery usage and of maintenance
  • Work as part of a team to support the research work of the Department and commercial activities

About You
To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Preferably at least 3 - 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience in livestock handling
  • A knowledge of machinery operation and experience in general farm maintenance
  • A current driver’s licence
  • A Chemical Users Certificate AQF 3 (or the ability to obtain)
  • A current forklift licence (or the ability to obtain).
