The Animal Welfare Advisory Committee (AWAC) of Western Australia provides independent, evidence-based advice to the Minister for Agriculture and Food, who is responsible for animal welfare regulation.

The Committee is being established as part of the Government Response to the Report of the Independent Review of the Animal Welfare Act 2002.

Applicants interested in appointment to the AWAC must demonstrate experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Animal science, animal welfare science or veterinary medicine
• Legislation and public policy relevant to animal welfare
• Bioethics
• The management of livestock, display or companion animals
• The management of wild animals, including native species
• The use of animals for scientific purposes
• Community education and awareness relevant to animal welfare

Expressions of interest must be emailed to Animal Welfare General Enquiries Team by 5:00 pm WST, Friday 8 October 2021. Please include in the subject header “AWAC EOI”.
