Mayfield Veterinary Hospital has an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Veterinary Nurse to join a busy and well-regarded vet clinic in the Newcastle area.

Mayfield Veterinary Hospital is a large purpose-built hospital that has all the latest equipment. We are an ASAVA reaccredited “Hospital of Excellence” which is the highest accreditation for Vet Hospitals.

To be successful in the role:

• Qualified as a cert IV Nurse in Practice for a minimal 2 years. (essential)
• You will have exceptional customer service skills and a passion for providing a high standard of patient care, show empathy in challenging times for clients, patients and your colleagues.
• Able to lead your surgery / hospital Veterinarian to prioritise surgical/hospital cases.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work efficiently, multi-task, and time manage yourself.
• Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Flexibility with shifts and hours, however we will try to accommodate your needs to the best of our ability
• Be passionate about the industry, solutions focused and contribute positively to our culture

What is involved:

• Veterinary nursing: Intravenous catheter placement, intravenous blood samples, assisting with radiographs, bandaging, and monitoring anaesthetics.
• Mentoring and supporting colleagues / Work experience students.
• Communicate patient progress to staff and clients.
• Able to jump into different shift allocations: Surgery Buddy, Recovery Nurse, Admit/Anaesthetic Nurse, Consult nursing, Hospital Nursing and Reception duties.
• Handle patients in line with our “low-stress handling” techniques
