Vet Nurse: Maternity Leave Position

Leopold Pet Hospital is looking for an experienced veterinary nurse to cover a maternity leave position. This is a fixed term (minimum 6 month) position. We are a small animal clinic based just outside of Geelong in Victoria. Responsibilities will include:

• General reception duties. Greeting clients and checking in their pets. Answering phones.
• Providing animal care information on husbandry, nutrition, parasite control and behaviour to pet owners.
• Animal handling including pathology sample collection, and assistance with positioning and restraint of patients for imaging.
• Undertaking nursing duties, including surgical preparation, and monitoring anaesthesia, IV catheter placement, blood collection, and caring for hospitalised animals.
• Maintenance of hygiene and adhere to infection control protocols.
• Upholding best practice and high standards of care to ensure the safety and health of the patients and the team.

The successful applicant for the experienced nurse position will ideally have:

• Veterinary Nurse experience (ideally a minimum 12 months, however candidates with a great attitude and willingness to learn would also be considered).
• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent (or working towards this).
• Passion for animal care.
• Effective time management and organisational skills.
• Punctual and reliable.
• Excellent animal handling skills.
