About RSPCA WA

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) WA is the state's leading voice in animal welfare.  On an average day, we employ around 90 staff and we have the support of an amazing group of volunteers. Together, our team works diligently toward preventing animal cruelty.

About this opportunity

Attention all vets with a passion for animal welfare, high standards of veterinary work, family friendly hours and no client contact!

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced veterinarian to join our veterinary team at RSPCA WA. The veterinary clinic based at the RSPCA WA shelter in Malaga provides services for the shelter animals and the RSPCA WA Inspectorate, including prosecutions. The veterinary team practices at a very high standard, with best animal welfare being central to all treatment undertaken. Our facility is equipped with (including but not limited to) full orthopaedic kit, electrocautery unit, two IM3 dental machines, digital x-ray, ultrasound, surgivet, pulse ox, apalerts and in house blood analysers.

The role involves weekday shift week from 8.30am - 4.30pm. No weekend or afterhours work is required. As we do not offer a veterinary service to the public, there is no requirement for client contact in this role, although you may need to speak to our foster carer's from time to time. The role is permanent, 4 days per week with the option for days to be flexible.

This position would suit a small animal veterinarian with at least 3-5 years clinical experience. The successful candidate will need to be very confident with routine small animal medical and surgical cases, plus have some experience with more complex cases. The candidate will also need to have good attention to detail and be a team player. We have a wonderful team of staff who are very welcoming and will support you in your role.

While the majority of cases are cats and dogs, a willingness and ability to work with small mammals, birds etc. is a plus.
