Position summary

  • Set up production processing lines (Manufacturing and packaging equipment) according to production schedule requirements.
  • Review the operating safety of equipment during setup and production runs
  • To provide ongoing improvements to processes, machinery and set ups.
  • To establish preventative maintenance schedules for filling and packaging equipment
  • In accordance with company policies, maintain OH&S and cGMP compliance of equipment and machinery within the Manufacturing Facility
  • To develop and expand the proactive attributes for this role. (It must not become a reactive role)
  • To keep ahead of the schedule and support Manufacturing Manager and Technical Production Manager.
  • Liaise with suppliers for replacement parts and services for equipment – Reporting required, or proposed spends with Manufacturing Manager.
  • Liaise with relevant internal departments in relation to equipment improvements and repairs (Production, Engineering and Quality).

Duties Performed / Responsibilities

  • Set up of process lines and equipment to ensure efficient processing in relation to cGMP , schedule requirements and work order standards
  • Troubleshooting of packaging and manufacturing equipment to maintain optimum operating performance during processing to meet schedule requirements.
  • Maintain and drive the continual improvement of the production 5S system in relation to equipment, change parts and tool identification and storage.
  • Maintain cGMP compliant storage of equipment, change parts and tools and relevant equipment usage records
  • Create and maintain equipment set up sheets and breakdown / troubleshooting information.
  • Transporting of equipment and machinery to and from production areas within and outside the manufacturing facility
  • Assisting in the staging, checking of materials and line clearance prior to set up of process lines.
  • Identify, Suggest and implement modifications to process equipment in relation to process efficiency and OH&S (incl. completing workshop job request forms for relevant modifications and change control information).
  • Dismantling and inspection of equipment at the end of processes prior to cleaning
  • Maintenance of packaging and manufacturing equipment to ensure efficient and optimal performance
  • Recording of labour allocation related to lines setting takes (set up, cleaning, breakdowns and training)
  • Maintain modification / repair requirements / job request spreadsheet – liaising with Production Manager for priorities and maintaining status information.
  • Identify / assist in the review and creation of relevant equipment SOP’s
  • Assist in the cleaning of production equipment prior to and following production processes (where required).
  • Assist the production team to meet relevant targets and requirements.

Education and experience

  • Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering (Fitter & Turner) or equivalent trade experience
