Description

Shepparton Equine Veterinary Service is an independently owned, rapidly expanding equine veterinary practice located in the Goulburn Valley, Victoria. With a robust ambulatory client base servicing Northeast Victoria and new, dedicated equine veterinary and agistment facilities in Shepparton East, the practice now requires a casual equine veterinary nurse / personal assistant to assist the principal veterinarian.
Desired applicant skills, experience & qualifications:
- Excellent horse handling skills
- Previous equine nursing experience (Certificate II or IV in Veterinary nursing preferred)
- Great verbal and written communication skills, with a high priority approach to patient and client care
- Relaxed and friendly person who prides themselves on being reliable and diligent.
Role:
- Assisting with veterinary procedures:
- Lameness and prepurchase examinations (assisting with radiography, ultrasound, joint blocks etc)
- Mare reproductive and neonatal work (horse handling and assisting with treatments)
- Hospital patient treatments and surgical nursing
- Horse handling and stable work for the agistment / stud farm
- All basic veterinary nurse duties including cleaning & disinfection, surgical instrument sterilisation, equipment maintenance, facility management etc
- Administration / personal assistant duties including organising & liasing with clients for appointments, payment and admit/discharge of patients.
- Pharmacy management, including ordering and managing stock inventory.
Work Hours & Remuneration:
- Above award rate with negotiable terms
- Expect 15-25 hours per week
- No routine afterhours
- Additional hours to assist with routine stud farm duties available seasonally
- Scope for full time hours in time for a suitable candidate.
