Amazing opportunity for an enthusiastic Equine Veterinarian to join the existing team of experienced vets and nurses at Valley Equine Veterinary Centre!
We provide veterinary services to a large variety of equine clients with the majority of them being pleasure and performance horses based in the Swan Valley and the northern suburbs of Perth. Our practice is well established with an excellent reputation for offering an exciting variety of cases, great working conditions and rewards, coupled with training and skill development opportunities.
This role offers flexible hours and rostered days to suit your availability. Full time or part-time - we can work with you to make this job suit your lifestyle! The ideal applicant will have some post graduate experience but keen new graduates with an equine background will also be considered.
We have a well-equipped clinic base in the hub of the Swan Valley located on a fully reticulated 11.5-acre property. Our facilities include:
- a large barn with 11 stables and yards, all with cameras which can be accessed remotely
- 4 boxes specially set up for i/v fluid therapy
- 12 additional outside shaded holding yards
- 2 crushes, one being suitable for mares with foals at foot
- an in-house laboratory including haematology/biochemistry machines and microscopes
- a separate reproduction lab including a microscope with a heated stage
- a designated reproduction ultrasound machine
- an air-conditioned imaging room, including an x-ray machine and 2 additional ultrasound machines with multiple probes
- a purpose designed lameness work-up area with a hard trot-up surface and round yard plus an arena for ridden lameness assessments
- a stallion collection area
- 11 paddocks and 2 smaller hospital paddocks
To help cope with our increased workload during 2024, we are seeking AT LEAST one dedicated qualified veterinarian. The position will be tailored to the individual and their level of experience. Depending on the interests of the successful applicant, the workload will be focused on the following:
- In hospital examinations and treatments
- Reproductive examinations and procedures (this is not essential, and only applies to candidates with an interest in this field)
- Dentistry (for candidates with an interest and/or experience in this field)
- Lameness assessments and case management
- Medical work-ups
- Field surgery (castrations/stitch-ups etc)
- Emergency care as and when required
The position will involve seeing our equine patients both on farm and at our clinic base, as well as being on call over some weeknights and weekends.
