Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Nurse
Western Australian Veterinary Emergency and Specialty (WAVES) is a veterinary referral hospital located in Success, WA. We provide veterinary emergency and specialist veterinary care for family pets, treating them as we would treat our family members.
Our clinical staff are friendly, dedicated, empathetic, compassionate and highly knowledgeable veterinarians, nurses and support staff who together provide the highest level of care possible for the pets in Perth in a supportive partnership with the pet’s general practitioner.

We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic and dedicated nurse’s that are genuinely interested in the science of veterinary medicine and are willing to consistently provide quality patient care in the sometimes-hectic Emergency and Critical Care environment.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A certificate IV in veterinary nursing or equivalent
- A minimum of 2 years of previous experience in general practice
- Be available to work 1 weekend a fortnight (overnight shifts)
- Be available to work Public Holidays
- Be available to work on a rotating roster, between 6 to 8 shifts a fortnight. This roster may Include a mixture of day shifts, evening shifts and overnights
- Previous experience in emergency and critical care would be an advantage
Responsibilities:
- Treating and monitoring emergency cases and in-hospital patients
- Keeping meticulous records on the patients in your care, making sure they are regularly updated during your shift
- Working with veterinarians as a team to facilitate patient care and very importantly, recognising abnormalities in patients’ health status and making sure the duty veterinarian knows about them quickly
- Making sure the client’s needs and wishes are represented, particularly in difficult situations. You will be talking to clients in the hospital and on the phones and you will need to be able to make appropriate recommendations
