Description

The University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney is a progressive and world-class veterinary hospital, located in Sydney’s Inner City. UVTHS provides a diverse range of services to the public, one of which is our 24/7 Emergency & Critical Care (E/CC) service.
The role:
As an E/CC Nurse, you will encounter a diverse and exciting caseload. You will work closely alongside a team of specialists, residents, interns and students to provide gold standard patient care.
E/CC Nurses perform a diverse array of tasks, including triaging and treating emergency patients, intensive nursing in our Critical Care Unit, assisting in emergency procedures/surgeries and caring for hospitalised patients.
Regardless of whether you’re setting foot in a referral hospital for the first time, or are a seasoned E/CC veteran, we are committed to getting you to the next level.
With access to a vast array of continuing education opportunities, this will put you in good stead to work alongside our Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students. Working closely with The Faculty of Veterinary Science, the hospital is an integral part of providing an important teaching component for DVM students.
The successful applicant will work on a rotating 24/7 set roster, which rotates through all shifts; days, afternoons and overnights. The set roster allows for our nurses to have every alternate weekend off, helping to maintain a healthy work/life balance.
The ideal person:
You must possess a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent, with at least 2 years experience in a busy practice.
Desirable attributes include:
  • A desire to work towards, or having already obtained an E/CC Diploma or equivalent. UVTHS provides support from E/CC Criticalists and Residents to become a Veterinary Technician Specialist (E/CC) or Diploma.
  • A high level of nursing skills and attention to detail
  • Thriving in a learning and teaching environment
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Enjoy meeting and working with new student groups every 3 months
  • A commitment to career development
  • A positive outlook and enjoyment of challenges in an unpredictable emergency environment!

The remuneration for this positions is $50,000 - $57,000.

Overseas sponsorship is considered for the ideal candidate by VetPartners Australia.
