Cat Haven is WA’s premier cat welfare Organisation. We are an open admission shelter that has been in operation since 1961, taking in over 8000 cats and kittens each year. Operating under the Getting to Zero model, our aim to is rescue and rehome as many cats as possible. Each year we rehome hundreds of cats through our external adoption centres (EAC) program! Cat Haven adopts cats to the public through various pet supply and pet stores across Western Australia.
We are currently looking for a personable, enthusiastic EAC Officer to join our team! Working as part of the grounds team, you will be responsible for transporting cats to our EAC stores, as well as assisting with adoptions and taking care of the cats who live with us onsite.
Reporting to the Cat Welfare & Adoptions Manager, your main responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- Transporting cats and kittens to and from EAC stores, vet clinics and events across the metropolitan area using the Cat Haven van
- Liaise with the Cat Welfare & Adoptions Manager and the grounds team to facilitate suitable cats and kittens being available and fast-tracked for the EAC program
- Responding to phone calls and emails, maintaining cat and kitten records, creating cat profiles, processing adoptions, data entry and filing as required
- Providing detailed and timely assistance to customers adopting cats and kittens, advising on the suitability of individual animals to the customer’s circumstances and requirements
- Ensuring the health and wellbeing of up to 200 cats living in our shelter, including feeding cats, cleaning enclosures, completing paperwork, and conducting health and behaviour assessments
This is a busy, active role – if you don’t like to be stuck at a desk, then this job could be for you! To be successful in this role, you will possess the following:
- At least three years’ experience within a customer service or retail position
- Experience within the pet supply, veterinary or animal welfare industries is highly advantageous
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer literacy, including the use of Microsoft Office and previous experience using a database
- A clean, current ‘C’ class license and the ability to obtain a police clearance
This role is on offer for 30 hours per week, Wednesday – Saturday, on a 12 month contract. Cat Haven is an open admission animal shelter. To find out more, visit our website: www.cathaven.com.au
