Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) is developing an innovative, tertiary School of Veterinary Medicine. We have a clear ambition to ‘promote the sustainability and resilience of our graduates to support the animals and rural communities at the heart of Scotland’s Natural Economy’.
This dedicated, foundation appointment will sit in the Veterinary School Leadership Team and is accountable to the Head of School and the Head of Veterinary Education with the post holder responsible for the development of a portfolio of partnerships that will form the basis of the delivery of clinical placements and animal enterprises, fundamental to the distributed approach to veterinary education.
We are looking for an RCVS registered (or registerable) veterinary surgeon to lead in the recruitment, coordination, management and support of our partner clinical practices and associated animal enterprises.
You will have considerable communications skills and experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams. You will have excellent organisational skills and the drive, enthusiasm and commitment to embrace our ambitions.
Key responsibilities are:
- leadership of our portfolio of Partnerships
- to be the first point of contact between the Vet School and Partner organisations
- introductory discussion, assessment and support for practices and enterprises wishing to engage
- completion and management of any legal agreements between the Vet School and our Partners
- supporting the partner practices and enterprises in their interactions with students and educational teams
- leading on the processes underpinning Partnership-related elements and quality assurance essential for the attainment of RCVS Accreditation and any subsequent accreditation bids
- working with colleagues in Registry and the Centre for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT) to ensure quality assurance processes and outcomes meet or exceed internal and statutory (RCVS) standards and compliance requirements
- working with the Dean of Veterinary Medicine and Head of School, Head of Veterinary Education and the Year Leads to co-ordinate Partner activities with educational requirements
- maintaining communications, management and engagement with Partners to identify excellence and to aid in the correction of any issues or deficits encountered
- organisation and conduct of ‘Partner Events’ to promote affiliations with the Vet School and across the Partner Network
- oversight of QA data relevant to the Vet School, Partners and accrediting bodies.
- active participation in RCVS engagements.
- membership of the Vet School Senior Management Team.
- participation in student recruitment and selection including Open, Applicant and Interview Days.
Salary on appointment will be based on experience and qualifications.
