Australian Pork Limited (APL) is the industry body representing the Australian pork industry. Through integrated services including effective marketing, impactful research and proactive policy, the producer-owned body works to enable a thriving Australian pork industry. APL is constantly pursuing opportunities to sustainably grow, protect and increase consumption of Australian pork.
APL has an opportunity for an experienced Communication leader, reporting to the COO. This role drives industry initiatives, supported by a dynamic team. The Communication team’s purpose is to drive positive perceptions of pork as a product as well as pork production. The team works across a broad remit, spanning consumer PR for the Get Some Pork on Your Fork campaign, telling the industry’s story of progress and responsibility through to crisis management. This is done across digital channels, events, social media, sponsorship, media relations and content development.
The Communications Director will drive strategy and execution, working closely with APL’s policy, research, producer relations and marketing teams. This will be done through communicating to media, industry stakeholders, and broader Australian community.
The role will have responsibilities including participating as a member of the operations leadership team at APL, driving APL’s targeted outcomes in both planning and execution. Specifically in Communications you will also be responsible for leading a team of 4 talented individuals. You will drive planning, prioritising and sequencing messages at an appropriate depth and frequency to the stakeholder group’s needs.
Be the corporate brand custodian leverage your media network for dialogues that are both pre-planned and timely in response to positively impact the quantity and quality of APL’s or the pork industry’s profile. And of course, measure and report on outcomes.
Ideally you will be an energetic mix of experience (7-10 years+), people leadership, imagination and writing ability. An ideal candid would also have strong networks in the media and agriculture and be able to build strong relationships and network with various stakeholder groups.
