Required License/Registration/Certification
KY Veterinarian License, or eligible to be licensed within 6 months of hire, and Category II United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Certification, or eligible to obtain accreditation within six months of hire
Physical Requirements
Sitting for long periods of time; lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 lbs on occasion; must be able to walk to and from the various animal facilities.
Shift
Monday - Friday; 7:30am - 5:00pm; Weekends (PRN); On-call; Holidays and as needed.
Job Summary
The Division of Laboratory Animal Resources at the University of Kentucky (UK) is an AAALAC accredited centralized Core Research Service Center that provides animal care and animal research facilities and support for five colleges of the UK Medical Center. Responsibilities include directing and supervising the efficient and compliant operation of the laboratory animal care and use program of the Division of Laboratory Animal Resources; and is responsible for the fiscal operations and management of the DLAR budget. In addition, the Director works with the IACUC, Office of the Attending Veterinarian, and other UK administrators, faculty and staff to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and policies related to humane care and use of animals for research, teaching and testing.
There is an internal employee being considered for this position (IEBC).

Preferred Education/Experience
Specialty Certification: DACLAM Certification; Experience in: managing animal core unit, cost accounting standards, Cost Analysis and Rate Setting Manual and budget development.
