Description
About Us:
Pets In The Park is a veterinary charity dedicated to providing free essential care to pets owned by people experiencing homelessness. Guided by our core values of dignity, passion, kindness, and integrity, we aim to support and enhance the wellbeing of both pets and their owners, fostering strong human-animal bonds. Our work is powered by our dedicated volunteers and generous donations from the public and business sponsors.
The Opportunity:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Development Support Officer to join our team. This outward-facing role is crucial for developing the charity’s profile, undertaking marketing activities, generating funding and resources to sustain operations, managing grant projects, and handling various administrative tasks.
As the Development Support Officer, you will be responsible for brand development and compliance, identifying news and media opportunities, managing marketing and events, and overseeing our social media accounts. You will play a vital role in fundraising, responding to donor contacts, maintaining donor communication, and troubleshooting supporter issues. Additionally, you will develop and handle grant applications, manage grant projects, and ensure compliance and reporting.
Administrative duties would include managing charity registration and licensing, handling insurances, supporting the Board, preparing reports, and assisting with strategic projects as requested. Key performance indicators would include annual targets for raising untied funding across all channels, maintaining an acceptable rate of contact response and resolution, sustaining corporate support, ensuring grant compliance and acquittals, and reporting to the Board.
This role offers the flexibility of remote work and the opportunity to negotiate your own work hours. You'll enjoy generous remuneration, and a supportive and genuine Board. There are also opportunities to travel for meetings, stakeholder engagement, and clinic visits. We encourage continuing professional development and offer additional days of annual leave, pro-rated to 16 days for this part-time role. Most importantly, you will have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of people and their animals, contributing to a cause that values the human-animal bond!
Who We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate for the role will have a professional background in the not-for-profit sector, with demonstrable experience in fundraising, grant management, and branding/marketing. A proven track record in developing and executing successful fundraising campaigns, coupled with the ability to write compelling grant applications, is essential. The candidate should be adept at managing multiple grants simultaneously, ensuring compliance, and meeting reporting requirements. Experience in brand development and media outreach is also important, as the role involves identifying and leveraging media opportunities to enhance the charity’s profile. Familiarity with managing social media accounts and creating engaging content to drive supporter engagement is also highly desirable.
Strong communication skills are paramount for this position. The candidate must be able to articulate the charity’s mission and impact effectively to various stakeholders, including donors, sponsors, and the media. Attention to detail is similarly important, as the role involves ensuring administrative tasks and record-keeping are completed accurately and on time. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, capable of prioritising tasks, and adept at troubleshooting issues efficiently. A true passion for supporting both people and animals in need is crucial, as this role requires genuine empathy, dedication, and a commitment to making a tangible difference in the community.
