THE POSITION

The Territory Manager will be responsible for ensuring the Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health (BIAH) companion animal (CA) and restricted veterinary medicine (RVM) products meet or exceed allocated sales targets within a designated sales territory, agreed key accounts and national e-commerce platforms. Call on veterinarians, veterinary clinics, and other nominated customers or key accounts, to ensure that they understand and recommend our product range, are familiar with our company, business terms, and marketing campaigns.

 

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Attain set sales targets through promoting marketing campaigns, merchandising and technically detailing BIAH products to e-commerce platforms, veterinarians, pet-vet retail staff and designated key accounts/wholesalers.
  • Negotiate and lead all trading terms discussions with major accounts in conjunction with National Sales and Key Account Manager.
  • Regularly analyze sales performance to identify relevant opportunities and gaps. Demonstrate deep insight and understanding of specific customer needs.
  • In the execution of account plans, deliver well-planned interactions with customer stakeholders with an emphasis on sequences of actions that achieve change.
  • Optimise use of the territory budget within approved expense limits. Where applicable, propose business cases for additional territory funds.
  • Maintain and develop professional relationships with all customers, key opinion leaders, and allocated key accounts, including business plans and terms of trade implementation for key customers.
  • Maintain a standard of technical competence so that our products and services are professionally represented in the territory.
  • Conduct regular customer staff training on Boehringer Ingelheim's CA and RVM products.
  • Timely submission of reports, including market intelligence, expense reports, sales records, call records, etc.
  • Comply with the commercial excellence strategy and ensure that CRM is fully utilized to maximize sales within the territory to attain key KPI’s.
  • Analyse sales potential by customer category, allocate resources accordingly, and constructively plan time and resources.
  • Actively demonstrate the application of our over-the-counter products and ensure customers are fully trained on product application for these products.
  • Maintain ethical business standards for all promotional and selling activities. Ensure Boehringer Ingelheim’s products are sold according to company policy and ensure maintenance of all company property in keeping with good business practices.

 

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years in a key account management (KAM) role.
  • At least 5 years of territory management experience
  • Ideally based in Auckland
  • Strong interpersonal skills that foster strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective selling skills with good negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • The ability to effectively communicate technical information.
  • Self-motivated with business acumen to achieve financial and operational objectives.
  • Effective planning and organizational abilities are required to manage your own geographical territory.

 

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Animal health experience
  • E-commerce experience
