The School of Veterinary Science at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand invites applications for a full time Practicing Veterinarian in Companion Animal Medicine.

Our Companion Animal diagnostic services include flexible and rigid endoscopy, digital radiology and ultrasound, and in-house CT. MRI examinations are carried out at a nearby human imaging practice. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) maintains a full suite of in-house diagnostic laboratory equipment and shares a building with IDEXX, a privately owned full-service diagnostic laboratory. Patient care is provided 24/7 by a dedicated team of ER veterinarians and nurses, supported by board-certified critical care specialists.

Your veterinary degree must be from an AVMA-accredited school or one recognised by the New Zealand Veterinary Council to enable full registration in New Zealand as a veterinarian. To check your eligibility, see here .
Experience in small animal medicine and a strong service focus, both toward clients of the VTH and to our students, are essential. Ideally, you will have specific experience or qualifications in companion animal medicine, or a special interest in this area.
If you are passionate about guiding and inspiring our next generation of veterinarians then this career path is for you. Accompanied by undergraduate veterinary students, you will provide clinical medicine services to clients of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. As a teaching hospital, our focus is on real-life learning for our students, and you will actively support students to develop their clinical reasoning skills, decision-making abilities, understanding of disease and ability to communicate with clients and colleagues. We will support you to develop your teaching skills, and, as well as consult-based teaching and tutorial sessions, there will be opportunities for you to participate in other aspects of veterinary teaching as you progress in your career.
