The Companion Animal Officer role is responsible for:

  • Ensuring the efficient management of the Tamworth Regional Council Companion Animal Facilities including carrying out daily routine checks, cleaning and feeding, and microchip implantation
  • Maintaining and updating accurate records of all facility operations and processes
  • Preparing, supporting and presenting educational programs which support the objectives of the Division
  • Addressing all customer queries and complaints received in Council’s corporate systems
  • Participating in school and interest group tours and talks as appropriate
  • Managing Council’s Companion Animal Facility Facebook page
  • Assisting with stock impounding as required
  • Participating in all identified training and development activities within agreed timeframes
  • Contributing to staff meetings/team talks and maintain a focus on the continual improvement of business processes within the division

 

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED

  • Qualifications in Animal Studies, Companion Animal Services, Animal Behavioural Assessment or similar (or equivalent relevant experience);
  • Understanding of the Companion Animals Act and Regulation including Experience in investigating breaches;
  • Commitment to animal welfare and the rehoming of all adoptable companion animals
  • Experience promoting and delivering Companion Animal Services including educating the community about responsible pet ownership;
  • Outstanding customer service skills;
  • Experience in microchip implanting; and
  • A current driver licence.
  • Candidates with a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing will be highly regarded.

Salary Range: $1,068.20 to $1,155.90 (plus allowances and superannuation) for 38 hours work per week.  The hours of work will be generally between 8.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday working a 9 day fortnight. The position may require participation in a roster to provide out of hours and on call services to meet Council’s operational and customer service obligations. Where work is required out of normal hours, penalty rates and industry allowances in addition to the salary detailed above apply.
